Once you’ve set goals for your social media efforts, thought about what you’ll write about on your blog and how often, you should make an effort to ensure the content you create is shareable. A shareable blog post is not only informative and entertaining, but is created with the intention of readers sharing it with their friends, colleagues and followers. This can generate increased traffic to your website, and in turn heightened awareness about your business.
At our Social Media Week event this year, Julian Brass, founder of Notable.ca suggested a great way to ensure content is shareable is to write on a topic that gets people commenting and creates conversation – creating buzz and drawing return visits. Shelley Pringle, founder of Polaris PR, suggested a technique from Marcus Sheridan of The Sales Lion. He suggests writing blog posts based on all the questions you receive from your customers. This way you know you’re addressing an actual need of your customers.
