Setting up a blog for your business is a great way to keep customers informed of relevant news and updates, and to develop yourself as a thought leader within your industry. But getting your blog up and running is just the first step – to keep readers coming back, you’ve got to consistently develop creative, interesting content.
Having some sort of editorial plan or strategy in advance will help ensure you’re able to continually generate new blog ideas. This can be as simple as establishing certain topic areas you’d like to write about each week. Shelley Pringle, founder of Polaris PR, says that by setting her own blogging schedule of once-per-week, she’s yet to run out of subjects to write about. Meanwhile Julian Brass, founder of Notable.ca, says the simplest and most rewarding way to come up with blog content is to put yourself in your readers’ position, and think about what they want to learn about.
